Snellie the Snail

Snellie is a snail owned by Squidward Tentacles. She appears in the episode "The Great Snail Race," the book of the same name, and the console and DS version of the video game SpongeBob's Truth or Square. Snellie only appears in the hit T.V. series "The Adventures Of Gary The Snail".

Description[]

Snellie is a snail who has a lavender shell with a violet swirl on it. She also has a large pink bow tie on top of her shell. Her eyes are pale yellow and have blue irises with black pupils and long black eyelashes.

She looks identical to Mrs. Puff's longtime pet Annette and similar to Monica's pet Mary. SpongeBob SquarePants Trading Cards Premiere Edition card 12 disambiguates Snellie and Annette by their respective owners being Squidward and Mrs. Puff; a 2019 Sponge Master Instagram post from Nickelodeon Latin America conflates Annette (owner being Mrs. Puff), Snellie (name), and Mary (appearance). Recolored versions of Snellie and/or Annette include a "Gary & Spot" animal shelter snail and a "Gary's Got Legs" Snail Park snail.

History[]

She appears in the episode "The Great Snail Race," where she races against Gary, and Patrick's rock. Squidward keeps Snellie away from Gary because of his hatred of Gary and SpongeBob. Gary is pushed too hard by SpongeBob and gets hurt badly.

Snellie goes back to him instead of finishing the race to see if he is okay. In the end, Gary and Snellie seem to have fallen in love with each other and go off the track together. Snellie and Gary tend to be partners, but she has not been shown with Gary in any other episodes. She possibly could have been donated by Squidward or is just a continuity error.

"The Great Snail Race"[]

She races against Gary the Snail and Rocky the Rock. Squidward keeps Snellie away from Gary because of his hatred of him and SpongeBob.

After Gary is pushed too hard by SpongeBob, having his eyes and head gasket explode, Snellie goes back to him instead of finishing the race to see if he is okay.

In the end, Gary and Snellie seem to have fallen in love with each other and go off the track together.

SpongeBob's Truth or Square[]

Her cage is a happiness object located on the left-hand side of SpongeBob's entrance door. When it is viewed in the hub, Snellie's eyes poke out, along with her meowing, before they see each other and go back into the carrier. In the DS version, Snellie herself replaces the item.

A snail similar to Snellie appeared in "The Sponge Who Could Fly," as a pet of Mrs. Puff.
Snellie's snail carrier is a collectible item in the game SpongeBob's Truth or Square. When it is viewed in the hub, Snellie's eyes poke out, along with Snellie's meowing, before they see each other and go back into the carrier. In the DS version, Snellie herself replaces the item.
Her name may be derived from the Dutch word "Snel" which translates to "Fast" in English.
According to Squidward, Snellie costed $1,700.
Snellie appeared in The SpongeBob Challenge commercial that aired in October 2016, where she raced against Gary the Snail and Mary the Snail. She won the race.
